The NDIA is rolling out a new ICT business system called PACE, starting 31 October 2023, over 18 months. Initially trialled in Tasmania, this revamp is vital for all NDIS providers to understand.
PACE aims to streamline operations by replacing the current NDIS Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. It will substitute the existing NDIS business, portal, and payment systems, focusing on user-friendliness and efficiency. This is particularly beneficial for NDIS Plan Managers, Support Coordinators, and general providers, facilitating a better focus on delivering top-notch services to participants.
For providers, PACE doesn’t significantly alter the NDIS’s core operations but introduces a more intuitive payment enquiry system and improved information exchange tools. This ensures smoother payment processes and better coordination between the NDIA and providers like yourselves.
A notable feature of the new portal is the ‘participant-endorsed providers’ function, fostering direct relationships between providers and participants. This eliminates the need for service providers to create service bookings, as access to Participant’s plans will be available directly on the NDIS system. Moreover, registered and unregistered Support Coordinators and psychosocial recovery coaches can submit Requests for Service.
Providers serving agency-managed participants must ensure they are ‘endorsed’ in the participant portal for faster payment processing. Plan Managers and Support Coordinators need to obtain participant consent to access their plans, which PACE now facilitates more readily.
Although provider responsibilities in managing NDIS plans, assessments, and service delivery remain the same, PACE may influence how information about participants and their plans are tracked. Thus, staying updated with the system changes is essential.
